Join Ed Siegel For A Theater Talk
WBUR’s Ed Siegel, editor and critic at large of The ARTery on wbur.org, moderates a conversation about the work of Filipino-American playwright A. Rey Pamatmat on Thursday, June 4. They’ll be talking at the Calderwood Pavilion at 6 p.m., before that evening’s performances of two Pamatmat plays.
Ed and the playwright will be joined by Peter DuBois, artistic director of the Huntington Theatre Company, and Shawn LaCount, artistic director of Company One. DuBois directs the Huntington’s production of Pamatmat’s “after all the terrible things I do,” and LaCount is directing “Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them” for Company One. Both productions are New England premieres.
“If the American theater wants to remain relevant to the American people, then showcasing the work of artists of color isn’t a commitment: It’s accepting reality,” Pamatmat recently told The ARTery, adding, “… if you support the work of other artists of color, women artists, queer artists and so on, you can change the entire landscape of the American theater so that it looks more like the actual United States of America.”
The conversation is free for ticketholders of either play.
