BU Power of Narrative Conference 2018
The Power of Narrative Conference has convened in several places under several names since its founding at Boston University in 1998. But its mission remains constant as storytelling journalism goes digital: helping narrative journalists to strengthen their craft skills, puzzle out the complex ethics of intimate journalism and impart the down-to-earth humanity that is the genre’s strength.

9:00 a.m. A Conversation With Mark Bowden
Senior political reporter Anthony Brooks will interview Mark Bowden, the author of 13 books, most recently Hue 1968. He is now a national correspondent for The Atlantic and a contributing editor at Vanity Fair.
11:00 a.m. Headline Keynote: Roxanne Gay
Lisa Mullins, host of All Things Considered, will interview author and cultural critic Roxanne Gay, whose work garners international acclaim for its reflective, no-holds-barred exploration of feminism and social criticism.
1:45 p.m. Keynote Panel: Keeping The Narrative Trains Running
Director of News and Programming Sam Fleming will join a panel of top editors/executives from across the media spectrum to discuss the threats, challenges and opportunities media organizations face as they champion narrative storytelling as a central part of their audience engagement missions and their business models. Moderated reporter Bruce Gellerman.
